Johnny Depp has recorded a star-studded album of sea shanties that will be included in the third and final final installment of Pirates of the Caribbean.
The actor joined with Bryan Ferry, Bono and folk singer Eliza Carthy to record the songs, which will also be released on CD.
Depp had hoped to get Keith Richards to involved, but the Rolling Stones guitarist -- who will play Depp's father in the last film -- injured himself falling from a tree just before recording began.
"It was Johnny's idea," said Carthy. "He thought that pirates should be singing these tunes on the boat during the film. The producers liked the idea and let him record this album."

In fact, Depp moved to California with his band to pursue a music career. It was when the band didn't work out that he decided to fall back on acting. Lucky us.
Thanks for that tidbit -- I look forward o hearing the shanties!
